Sing!: How Worship Transforms Your Life, Family, and Church

    • Jordan Cerny

Some books challenge your theology. Others stir your imagination. Sing! by Keith and Kristyn Getty somehow does both—while also inspiring you to grab your hymnal, gather your kids, and sing your heart out.

This book reminded me why singing matters—not just on Sundays, but in my everyday life. The Gettys aren’t just celebrated hymn writers—they’re passionate about helping all believers reclaim the gift of congregational singing. And in Sing!, they make a compelling case that singing isn’t a side note in the Christian life—it’s central.

The book walks through five areas where singing makes an impact:

    1. You – how singing shapes your soul and strengthens your faith
    2. Your family – how music disciples your children and brings joy to your home
    3. Your church – how congregational singing builds unity and proclaims truth
    4. Your witness – how singing boldly testifies to the world
    5. Your eternity – how singing prepares us for the worship of heaven

One of the most freeing things about this book is how it encourages everyone to sing—not just those with formal training or a mic in their hand. It’s a reminder that God designed all of us to sing, not as performers, but as participants in His glory.

One of my favorite quotes from this book:

“When we sing, we are doing what we were created to do, and we are doing what we will spend eternity doing.”

If you lead music at church, Sing! will deepen your understanding of why it matters. If you’re a parent, it will encourage you to bring singing back into your home. And if you’re a Christian who’s forgotten the joy of lifting your voice—this book will help you rediscover it.

At Chief Musician Alliance, we believe that worship is more than a sound—it’s a way of life. Sing! is a joyful and practical invitation to live that life more fully.
